FALL 2025

Since Spring of 2023, when we took action on the idea of a collegiate esports conference focused on fighting games, we’ve strived for sustainable, fighting games have seen a lot of growth in the collegiate space. CFGC has grown from just over 40 competitors to over 400. I firmly believe our success has shown that fighting games are worth investing in, multiple collegiate national and regional conferences have started to get into fighting games. Capcom has invested efforts into EsportsU. Campuses across the United States and Canada are developing more FGC clubs. Varsity Teams are bringing FGC Competitors onto their teams. It’s been exciting to be a part of, support everywhere we can, and watch the growth.

We have a lot of changes coming up. We have a lot of growth on our horizon that will hopefully raise the quality of the competition, strengthen the community, and provide stability. We knew at some point we would have to charge to continue to not only sustain CFGC but to grow as well. We didn’t want to do that until we developed something we knew had value worth charging, and I believe we’re there.

Fall Cost

Cost - $50/Player

This will be for the semester. includes all titles.

Why a cost?

CFGC has operated on passion since Spring of 2023. From our Advisory Board, Competition Council, TOs, Casters, and Students and Schools who have been a part of CFGC, everyone has run on passion.

We have to become financially self-sustaining. Since the beginning we’ve been self-funded. We've spent roughly around $11k, and brought in $2500. These costs have been for prize pools, digital tools, travel, and working costs. No one has taken a salary, a paycheck, anything of the sort. There have a been a few one time payments for folks where it was something we had to do. Board Members, Casters, TOs, Dr. Homan, Alby, nor myself are paid.

Part of charging to compete in CFGC is a natural progression of growth. A few things this will support

  • Our Casters and TOs deserve to be paid.

  • We have two in-person events planned for next year (2025-2026).

  • We are developing a Student Caster Program.

  • We are working to support the High School side of esports, because building there ensures the success of Collegiate

  • Add more titles

  • Improve CFGC systems, such as reporting scores, production, etc

We understand that $50/Player isn't a small amount for most of our competitors. We have a few things planned to try to help. One of our Advisory Board Members is a former Club President of the Year who has raised, I think he can claim, over a million for his school. He and I will be scheduling some events in our Discord server to work with students and club leaders on Club Development and Fundraising. We have a few other things we're working on to assist, but nothing is confirmed. Just please know, we're working hard to soften this impact.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I know there will be some questions and I welcome them. Please free free to contact me at jason@cfgc.gg or HellOnPaws on Discord.

Take care
